Ideas

Ideas can be brought in by individuals, companies, institutions or communities.

Preparation

Make some initial preparation for the idea.

  • Kickoff the Bullet
  • Define host
  • Walk through key questionaries.
    • Answer the 5 Ws ( Who, What, why, Where, When )
    • Answer SMART ( Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time Related )
  • Deliverables is a Bullet Memo.

Melting pot

The bullet melting pot is where the brainstorming and scoping work begins.

The Owner and Coordinator start preparing how to approach the idea and gather information.

  • Define all stakeholders that are either insider or outsiders.
  • Define what resources are needed. Finance, technical, critical SMEs.
  • Make SWOT analyze.
  • Define How and scope out MVP
  • List out all possible Legislation, regulations, licenses, etc.
  • List out possible Risks
  • Make high level business plan. What is the revenue model, what is the obvious cost.
  • Prepare SOW/Contract for short Bullet cycle.
  • Team-Stake holders
    • Insider: Is a person taking an active part or role in the bullet process at some point.
    • Outsider: Is a person that will be affected by the result of the bullet.
    • Leader/Coordinator: Is the person driving the bullet process.
    • Owner: Is the person that is came up with the idea or is representing the unit that came up with it.

Contract-SOW

This is a document that is listing out the scope for Minimum Viable Product ( MVP) run a cycle for. It lists out:

  • Introduction (Purpose & Background)
  • Scope
  • Stakeholders ( Team )
  • Implementation ( Cycle work )
  • Timeline
  • Success factors & Assumptions
  • Estimates
  • Settlement check points

Cycle

This is the actual bullet cycle that has been signed off in the SOW. Cycles are agile driven so things that might changes during the process are.

  • Team: Defined in SOW, but new SMEs might be needed
  • Tasks: Scope defined in SOW, but new might be created and others cancelled. Timelines need to be honored.
  • Presentation: at the end of cycle is critical to evaluate the result from the cycle.
  • Settlement: The work provided will be reviewed and all insiders that did work in the cycle must have a settlement to agree on, before moving forward.

Closing

When settlement has been finalized with all insiders involved all information should be available to decide on next steps.

  • New cycle: If the result from last cycle is positive and there is an interest to continue with the project, new cycle is defined. New cycle could have three different approaches.
    • Continue new cycle based on current SOW.
    • Define new SOW that leads to new cycle.
    • Go through the melting pot process, define now SOW and then new cycle.
  • Founding company: The result of the cycle work could lead to a decision where all elements are in play to establish a new company to handle the idea.
  • Dead end-STOP: The result could lead to a point that all gathered information and work done in cycles shows that the idea will never survive unless the whole idea is change somehow.
